DESCRIPTION:\nWe would like to welcome you back (and say a big hello and welcome to all of our new members) to the 2026-2027 season of the Bluegrass Estate Planning Council!  Our Board has worked diligently throughout the summer to bring you a wonderful calendar of programs.  You can find the full list on our website located here: https://www.bgepc.org/events\n\nFor our first meeting, we are excited to welcome Andrew Yocum and Jonathan Gifford to speak to us.  They are both with the Lexington firm of Sturgill, Turner, Barker & Moloney, PLLC.  They will bring us an important overview and update to Kentucky's Senate Bill 50, including taking a look at how the Estate Planning industry, specifically, will be affected.\n\nAndrew Yocum's practice focuses on civil litigation and insurance defense in the firm's Torts and Insurance Practice Group.  Prior to joining his current firm, he worked for two regional defense firms with a focus on insurance and professional liability defense.  He also served as the Assistant Fayette County Attorney and was able to represent the Commonwealth of Kentucky before the KY Court of Appeals and Supreme Court of KY.\n\n\nJonathan Gifford practices in the firm's Government and Municipal Law group, representing state, county and municipal entities in complex litigation and advising public clients on employment, personnel and regulatory matters.  He has tried cases in administrative forums, Kentucky state courts and federal district courts, as as well, as briefed appeals before the KY and US Court of Appeals (6th District).\n\n\nWe are happy to continue hosting our meetings this year at DoubleTree Guest Suites located at 2601 Richmond Road.  A buffet lunch will be served.  The cost of this meeting is $20 for members and $25 for guests. \n\nIf you wish to attend this meeting, please RSVP no later than 5:00 PM on Friday, August 28th by either clicking this link - https://www.bgepc.org/events/event/29948  - or by replying directly to this email.  Please be sure to RSVP so that we have plenty of space and food for everyone.  Those who come to the meeting having not RSVP'd may run the risk of being turned away at the door if there is not enough space, so please be sure to RSVP even if you have pre-paid your lunches for the year.  You may cancel your reservations up to the time of the event.\n\nIf you will be bringing a guest, please be sure that I have their name so that a name tag can be prepared for them.\n\nJust as a reminder, if you have not renewed your membership yet, you are welcome to do so at the door on Tuesday or renew online at https://www.bgepc.org/members/renewal (new members can apply at https://www.bgepc.org/members/application).  Please be aware that anyone not renewing by October 1, 2026, will be removed from the membership and email distribution lists.\n\nWe look forward to seeing you on Tuesday, September 1st, from 11:30-1:00 at the DoubleTree Guest Suites!\n\nMelissa Gregory, Council Executive\n\n~We LOVE our sponsors and are now taking applications for Platinum, Gold, Silver and Bronze Sponsor levels.  Your company name could appear here in future mailings!  Please visit our sponsorship information page at  https://www.bgepc.org/council/sponsor-sales for more information.~\n\n \n\n\n \n
