DESCRIPTION:\nWe are happy to welcome Lindy Karns back to speak to us for our first meeting of the 2018!  She will be leading a discussion regarding settlements and judgments where they pertain to estate issues.\n\n\n \n \n\n\n \nMary Melinda "Lindy" Karns is a certified public accountant specializing in taxation issues. Initially, Karns was employed by Arthur Young and Co. and Houston, Deloitte, Haskins and Sells of Lexington, before starting her own firm, Dulworth Breeding Karns & Pleasants LLP, in 1989. Lindy was born in Fairfield, Iowa and graduated from Corbin High School (Kentucky). Karns is a graduate of the University of Kentucky (Bachelor Arts – English Literature) and the University of South Carolina (Masters – Accountancy). She taught at both of her alma maters, as well as Eastern Kentucky University graduate and undergraduate classes.\n \n \n \nAs a Kentucky resident from 1969-1978 and 1985 to present, Karns has been a community activist. She has served as a former treasurer and chair of the Audit Committee, United Way; treasurer of the Salvation Army; treasurer of Kentucky Executive Mansions Foundation; president, Chrysalis House; treasurer, Divine Providence Inc.; board member, Kentucky Equine Humane Center; board member, Economic Development Partnership Board; Leadership Committee, Frontier Nursing University; KYCPA tax committee member and member of the Board of Directors; 2012 chair of the American Heart Association Go Red for Women Luncheon; Blue Grass Community Foundation; board member treasurer, First Saturday in May Inc.; and treasurer, Beshear Mongiardo and Beshear Abramson campaigns.\n \n\n\n\n \n  \n\n\n \nIt is IMPERATIVE that you RSVP by either registering online here - http://www.bgepc.org/events/event/14910 -  or by replying directly to this email no later than Monday, January 1st, at 12:00 PM.
